Looks like someone checked out the page today! And by someone I mean one person. Don’t all crowd me at once!

milky taaaart!
right, away from that scary subject of nationalism. pointing out that our darling political figure is a tad idiotic. But they’ll never know. And still, no one reads this. ever. you know. unless you’re reading now.
Anyways, away! away! this is what I made for cranberry sauce and stuffing day yesterday. or the day before. or something.
Milky Tart
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
little bit of salt
12 ounces evaporated milk
1 crusty thing (fillo dough, piecrust, puffy pastry, etc. but fillo goes best)
2 tablespoons or so of butter
cinnamon
put ze crusty thing in ze pan, buttered if you like. Mix sugar, flour, and salt in the crust with your fingers so that there’re no horrendous lumps of flour. pour the milk over, Do Not Mix no matter how much you’d like to. sprinkle cut up bits of butter over the top and drift liberally with cinnamon, then bake @ 350 for 45-55 min or until the middle bubbles up. yuummmm.
if you use fillo dough. make sure to paint each sheet with butter so that they reach teir peak crispy goodness. I just mussed the edges of mine for decoration because there’s really not much else you can do.
and now for nationalism
mmmm……frozen pudding for brekkie, and now to work on that nationalism essay. In class we took a little ‘quiz’ to see how nationalistic we were. Patriotic, you know. and I came out rather low on the charts. Oh well, suppose I’m just not that into little paper flags on dowels, then. But really now.
wakey wakey
ce matin:
yoko goes CRASHSMASH with her loft
feed her, seeing it’s 7:30 and she is usually fed at 5:45. Poor bunny. Though it’s not as if she couldn’t have been doing away with the two schmillion pounds of hay already in there.
can’t sleep again, so I burrow down in the blankets and cut up an Ellegirl for pressie inspiration. See a necklace for $350 of wired beads. Think “I could make that in 10 minutes.”
dip into my desk drawer, conveniently located less than one inch from le lit.
make that necklace in 10 minutes. Suck on that, commercial marketers!
and… now I just made pancakes, but sir college scum isn’t used to waking before 11:00 (slept over at his dorm and nothing happened until noon. really now.) and then I ate a pomegranate. and then I posted something. And now I am writing ‘and now i am writing’. And now…..
shirataki i love you
shirataki, in response to your silent inquiry, is a sort of tofu noodly yummy thing. They come in these little clear watery sacks at the grocery andd they’re not very expensive….. When you open the package they reek, so you have to rinse them a few times and heat them up. But they are sooooo good. Especially with this thai/ vietnamese- ish salty salty soup base that we have in the fridge mixed in. Mmmmmmmm. Except I’m sort of splattering little droplets of brothy stuff on my keyboard. G’night then.
the furies
in our lovely discussimundo while making our sucky tarte aux pommes, I found that she is also against stem cell research ( “well it’s only because all the democrats want to clone themselves”) and- gasp- thinks that the fault of rape lies on the victim (as opposed to, you know, the rapist) because obviously they must have been showing a little too much midriff. But you know, I didn’t get to hear much more of the scintillating details because she had to go to religious education. Have fun, Marie! Jesus loves you!
Yesterday night I got to go to TCAN to see Paula Poundstone from Wait Don’t Tell Me! . It was very very awesome. Really really. In fact, she chatted with me for a little bit as part of it and sort of made stuff out of what I said, but not near so badly as some of the other audience members. But still, it was quite cool to see the person, not just the voice wafting – or rather grating in her case- out of the radio. And she dresses extraordinarily bad. thought i’d let you know.
pat the bunny
yup. got the bunny. she’s in my lap all sleepy looking. how long since I last posted? anyways, earlier in the week I gave her a basket, and a really large one at that. she was sitting in it and attacking wood blocks and cardboard and things, which she is always content to do…. then a few days ago, the basket went right- side up wrong-side down (?) and started scuttling around. on paws. and ripping up the carpet while it was at it. I tell you, this is way too cute. except fot the carpet, but who cares about that?
but alas, it is sunday morning, and the homework lies untouched. my acquaintance is to come later so that we can make apple tarts for a mandatory french project. nyaaa. i’d rather just pat the bunny.
